Mr. Kofi Owusu Poku obtained his Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Land Economy in 1984. He also holds a Masters of Science degree in Geoinformation Systems for Rural Applications at the Wageningen Agricultural University/ ITC in the Netherlands. He also has a certificate in Remote Sensing and GIS Applications in Natural Resources. He is a lawyer having been called to the Bar in 2011 after obtaining his professional law degree from the Ghana School of Law.
As the head of the Public Vested Land and Management Division (PVLMD), Mr Poku has been with the Lands Commission since 1992 when he started work as a lands officer in Kumasi and then rose to become the Regional Lands officer in Brong Ahafo, Eastern, and Volta Regions before becoming the Director of the PVLMD in 2012.
Among some of the work published include the need for Concurrence for Family land grants presented at the Regional Lands Forum in Sunyani. The reaction to proposed registration of customary land holding on documentation of customary freeholders’ interest
Socially, he encourages the youth to develop research and self-improvements programs, he participates in church activities at the Baptist Church apart from watching sporting programs.
He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and Ghana Institution of Surveyors.
