LANDS COMMISSION PARTNERS WITH GMX SERVICES AND LICENSED SURVEYORS ASSOCIATION TO ADVANCE NATIONAL SURVEYING INFRASTRUCTURE

The Lands Commission has taken a significant step toward modernizing Ghana’s surveying and mapping systems by signing an agreement with GMX Services Ltd. and the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LISAG). The partnership aims to establish a comprehensive Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) infrastructure to support accurate surveying, mapping, and other geospatial activities across the country.

The Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, Surv. Benjamin Arthur welcomed the partners to the Commission and expressed his joy to be part of the partnership.

He mentioned that, the  event was a game changer for the profession of surveying here in this country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony which took place at the Commission’s conference room, the Deputy Executive Secretary(Corporate Services)of the Lands Commission, Surv. Jones Ofori-Boadu highlighted the long journey toward this milestone, which began in 2008 under the Land Administration Project (LAP). Initial efforts established five passive CORS stations, but the goal has always been a nationwide active CORS network. This new partnership brings that vision closer to reality, starting with an initial set of stations designed to cover Ghana at 100-kilometer intervals.

Tal Haddas, Founder of GMX Services Ltd., expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and technical excellence in building and maintaining the infrastructure. He also praised Ghana’s strong legal framework for surveying and the pivotal role of LISAG in ensuring the success of the project.

Surv. Samuel Larbi-Darko (President, LISAG) also expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership and was glad to be part.

The initiative positions Ghana as a pioneer in Africa for adopting public-private partnerships in cadastral and geospatial services. The partnership not only promises technological advancements but also reflects a shared commitment to values, professionalism, and the long-term development of the country’s surveying capabilities.

This agreement marks the beginning of a transformative journey for Ghana’s land administration system, with all parties expressing confidence in its potential to deliver lasting benefits.
