The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing collaboration with the Lands Commission through a courtesy call on the Commission’s Management at its Head Office on June 10, 2024.

Led by GhIS President, Surv. Kofi Obeng-Ayirebi, the delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with key members of the Commission on strengthening ties and leveraging expertise to advance land administration in Ghana. Among the key issues discussed were:

  • Capacity building for GhIS members
  • Private sector involvement in the Commission’s operations
  • Strategies to enhance land governance and regulate the profession
  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for members

Acting Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, Surv. Prof. Anthony Owusu-Ansah, highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions, referencing initiatives such as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) training for staff, Value for Money audits, and CPD programmes. He noted that these activities have played a significant role in building capacity and fostering professional growth.

GhIS President, Surv. Obeng-Ayirebi, stressed the importance of protecting the profession by curbing the activities of unqualified practitioners and ensuring only certified professionals are allowed to practice. He called on all professional members to uphold high standards of professionalism to distinguish themselves from quacks.

Surv. Anthony Mallen Ntiador, Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of Operations, commended the GhIS leadership and encouraged them to support the Commission’s decentralization agenda.
