In a heartfelt tribute to honor the dedicated service and remarkable achievements of an esteemed officer, the Lands Commission in the Bono Region organized a grand handing over and send-off party. The event, held at Sheila’s Executive lodge in Sunyani, brought together colleagues, friends, and well-wishers to bid farewell to the outgoing officer, Alhaji Mohammed Habib Alhassan.

Alhaji Alhassan, a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in land administration, served as the Regional Lands Officer in almost nine (9) Regions at the Lands Commission for over three decades. Throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in promoting transparent land governance and resolving land disputes to foster peaceful coexistence among communities.

The celebration commenced with an opening address by the chairman of the occasion Mr. Bennett Akantoa (Nana Kofi Akantoa-Amankotahhene, Chriaa Divisional Area) who commended Alhaji Alhassan for his exceptional leadership, dedication, and invaluable contributions to the Lands Commission and the Bono Region as a whole. He highlighted his unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of fairness, equity, and integrity in land administration.

Colleagues and associates of Alhaji Alhassan took turns sharing anecdotes and memorable experiences, highlighting his professionalism, mentorship, and ability to bring people together. Many recounted his tireless efforts to streamline the deeds registration processes and the decoupling of records from the Brong Ahafo Region enabling the two new Regions to get their records. They referred to him as the Senior Regional Lands Officer.

 

The event also provided an opportunity to recognize Alhaji’s contributions beyond the office walls. His active involvement in community outreach programs, where he championed environmental sustainability earned him the respect and admiration of those he worked with.

In his farewell speech, Alhaji Habib Alhassan expressed his gratitude to the Lands Commission and his colleagues for their support and collaboration throughout his tenure. He apologized if he has wronged anyone and asked to forgive and also acknowledged some challenges faced in the land sector and encouraged his successor to continue striving for excellence and fairness.

The incoming RLO, Mr. Joojo Hanson in his speech praised Alhaji Alhassan for his remarkable achievements and promised to follow his good works.

As a token of their appreciation, the staff of the Bono Region Lands Commission presented Alhaji with a beautifully crafted citation recognizing his outstanding service and dedication. Additionally, he was presented with symbolic gifts representing the fertile land of the Bono Region, signifying the lasting impact he has made in land administration.

The event concluded with heartfelt goodbyes, as colleagues and friends bid farewell to Alhaji Alhassan, wishing him success and fulfillment in his future endeavors.

While his departure leaves a void in the Lands Commission, his legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire and guide the organization in its pursuit of efficient land governance.
