COMMITTEE ON LAND ACT MAKES SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS ON LEGISLATIVE INSTRUMENTS FOR LAND ACT

The Land Act Working Group, chaired by the Greater Accra Regional Lands Officer, Surv. Timothy Anyidoho Esq. is diligently working to ensure comprehensive stakeholder consultation across Ghana.

This effort aims to gather meaningful inputs for drafting the Legislative Instruments (LIs) necessary for implementing the Land Act.

The committee, which comprises legal experts, land administration specialists, and stakeholders from various government agencies such as the Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands (OASL) and the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority (LUSPA), is crafting LIs to enhance land resource management in the country.

At a recent meeting at Angehill Hotel in Accra. concluding further stakeholder engagements, Surv. Maxwell Adu Nsafoah, Acting Deputy Executive Secretary of Operations, lauded the committee’s dedication and commended management for supporting these efforts.

Lawyer Kofi Owusu-Poku, Lead consultant, recognized the committee’s exceptional commitment and results-oriented approach.

Secretaries, Surv.Lawson Bosso-King and Surv. Maame Esi Anoa Sam received accolades for their meticulous documentation of minutes and resolutions.

Having engaged stakeholders in the Northern Zone in Tamale, the committee plans to replicate this in other zones, ensuring nationwide input into the LIs. The group, aided by consultants Lawyer Kofi Owusu-Poku and Lawyer Henry Tackie, has made significant progress in developing the LIs to support the Land Act.

The team has developed a stakeholder mapping strategy to ensure comprehensive engagement and is committed to incorporating diverse views into the LIs.

The team has reviewed comments and suggestions on the draft regulations from the various divisions, agencies, and other stakeholders.
