GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TOWARDS LEVERAGING TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE LAND ADMINISTRATION

The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming land administration through digitalization and robust governance reforms with the inauguration of the Bono Regional Lands Commission Board.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Yusif Sulemana underscored the critical role of land governance in national development. He noted that the inauguration of the 17-member board marks a significant step toward building a more secure, equitable, and efficient land administration system.

“This inauguration underscores our collective responsibility to establish land administration systems that guarantee security, equity, and economic empowerment,” he stated while urging board members to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the execution of their mandate.

Highlighting the government’s broader transformation agenda, Hon. Sulemana stressed the need for secure, accessible, and efficiently managed land to fully unlock its potential. He particularly cited the Bono Region’s strategic role as an agricultural hub and called for improved land service delivery to support productivity.

Key reform initiatives outlined include: Full implementation of the Enterprise Land Information System (ELIS) for digital land records, Elimination of manual processes to curb discretion and corruption, Integration of digital platforms to ensure seamless service delivery

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa (Esq.) described the Commission’s inauguration as a milestone for responsible land governance. He emphasized the importance of land management in supporting agriculture, infrastructure, housing, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

 

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, Surv. Prof. Anthony Owusu-Ansah reminded board members of the high expectations placed upon them, urging them to deliver transparent and efficient land administration that drives national development.

The newly sworn-in regional chairman Mr. Ali Abrahim Adjei pledged to prioritize: Strengthened land tenure security, streamlined administrative processes, transparent operations, effective stakeholder engagement

The inauguration forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing land sector reforms aimed at establishing a modern, technology-driven land administration framework in all regions.
